Halloween

I am usually not one to go out on Halloween. However, I decided to mix things up this year. Let me say, it certainly wasn't a 'Party' or a night spent under the 'Stars'. I have never been one for scary movies on Halloween, but I went to a haunted house, albeit it was this afternoon, on this Halloween. Ultimate Bet has forever been my nemesis. History has shown, the dealers have dealt plenty of tricks, very few treats.

Tricks:

Pot, pot, pot, pot, pot, pot, pot... If you have ever played on UB, you are familiar with the experience.

The highlight of the day: Holding JJ against QQ on a QJx flop, after being minimum re-raised before the flop.

Treats:

Heads-up, 5/10NL: On a board of AA34A, opponent bets the pot ~150. Hero raises all-in 400. Idiot calls 250. Hero shows A9. Idiot mucks T4

Short-handed, 5/10NL: All-in with KdJd against A7 on a flop of 743 with two diamonds, I spike a 'Jaybird' on the river. 2K pot

Back-to-back winning days on UB!!!

Happy Halloween

Poker.com & 'The Gbecks Effect'

Recently, I have been logging a majority of my poker hours at Poker.com. The game selection is microscopic compared Poker Stars, Full Tilt, etc., but I have been able to play between 3-6 tables of 2/4, 3/6, and 5/10 (cadillac of course) . Between extremely soft competition and 150% rakeback for playing 10K+ hands a month, I have been recording my best numbers in months.

After several struggling months, it is apparent all our group needed was a Messiah. In our case, we settled for Gbecks. Since Gbecks placed 3rd in PP Sunday Million, YelloSub, Jagtalon, and myself among others, have been experiencing our best results in several months. In the 100+9 NL Shorthanded on Full Tilt last night, YelloSub, not only made the final table, he decided 2nd was not good enough. He took home 8K+ [and the bracelet]. Soon afterwards, he transfered 50% of his winnings to Gbecks, as they agreed beforehand to swap 50%. 'The Gbecks Effect' I think I should jump in on this.

Next stop: Poker Stars Sunday Million (500+30)

... the final table of course!

Full Tilt 250K Final Table

With Party Poker no longer providing its services in the United States, I only played Poker Stars Sunday Million this afternoon. In a record-breaking field of 6,413 participants, I placed 354th for $897. The field was weak (understatement). I maneuvered my stack quite effectively and content with my quality of play.

In other news, Lawrence was represented well with an impressive showing by Misterniceguy (aka YelloSub). Lawrence has been very well represented lately in the online tournament circuit with impressive showings from many of its members. Yellosub made an impressive run finishing 4th out of the starting 1,726 entrants for 28K.

'Double on 50'

Gbecks & Tmay420 were dealt the same table draw on Day 2. Shortly into the session, Tmay420 found himself all-in with 99 v KK & out when a K came on the flop. Soon after, Gbecks re-raised all-in from the SB with A3s after a late/middle position player opened the pot, then called holding AK. The board absent of a 3 or a double-paired board sent Gbecks to the rail.

Leaving Lawrence

Last week in the WCOOP Main Event, I busted 50 places out of the money. I was hanging around for the most part until I put together a little rush as we approached the bubble. An early position player, Azimut, moved in for 38K with the blinds at 1K/2K. I picked up AKs in middle position and felt I must be up against the same hand or a small/middle pair. However, with the average stack approaching 70K and still several rounds away from reaching the money I decided to send my 42K into the pot. My opponent showed AQo... River: Queen. I quadrupled up two hands later & busted with 68s for my last 10K against AK.

I am leaving for a very long drive to Lake Tahoe tomorrow afternoon. Over the next three days, I will be driving 1,655 miles. It will surely be torture. Hopefully, I will figure out what I have been doing wrong over the last 6 months in online cash games. In other news, GBecks is on a tear! Last night, he placed 2nd in the Full Tilt 250K. It was a remarkable accomplishment on its own, but he also finsihed 3rd in the Party Million last week.

Cheers, Lawrence.

WCOOP Main Event

After a week of playing satelittes, I failed to win a seat in the WCOOP Main Event. Including my satelitte entry fees, I am in for ~4,600. I am optimistic about my chances, as I feel I have been playing effectively this week.
