?

I wish I didn't have so many negative posts, but I'd be fabricating the truth if I didn't. I have a dozen successful clients, but I can't earn a nickel on my own.

It seems a poker coach may be in order.

Odds?

An unlikely event occurred the other night. I had recently arrived on a flight from Las Vegas in which my toothpaste had pressurized. As I opened the cap, I visualized a clump of toothpaste shoot into my right eye. I am no longer a proponent of extra whitening.

Short

I haven't found a groove in 2/4 full ring after roughly 30,000 hands. Therefore, I made the only rational adjustment. I wouldn't say it was the best decision, as I haven't experienced success in two years (other than on Poker.com). Nevertheless, I gave it a go at 1/2 6-max. At least I got off to an encouraging start. (BB = size of big blind)

Winna

I have an advisement meeting scheduled for August 31st, but I am going to try and pick-up a cancellation on Thursday or Friday. I am signing a lease on Thursday (Avalon at Warner Center). I am moving in on August 15th. It will be expensive considering I have to furnish the entire apartment. Thankfully, the deck was kind on Poker Stars. I won nearly 2,200 over 3,800 hands.

Hands played: 21,359
BB/100: 1.47

Hmmm...

I am not very satisfied with my results thus far in 2/4 NL (full ring)

Hands played: 17,507
Net: -927

I am certainly on the wrong side of variance, but I have made several mistakes in search for the correct style of play on Stars. I expect an upswing in the next 20K hands. Otherwise, I will have to make other mechanical adjustments.

Also, I decided a week ago I was better off taking the required math course in the fall. Luckily, my adviser agreed and allowed for it to be taken in succession with classes at CSUN in the fall. I am leaving for L.A. in a couple days for an advisement meeting and in search for an apartment.

On a final note, I had AA vs. AA on (3) occasions. I can't remember experiencing this occurrence so often.

Lake Mead

I went on a last minute trip to Lake Mead w/ Shannon Shorr and friends on Wednesday. It was supposed to be a three day/two night trip, but we experienced navigational difficulties on Friday. Mike Katz circled a cove and lead us back toward the marina in which we had initially left from. I took over the helm and veered left, rather than right, leaving us drawing dead from returning before nightfall. Therefore, we didn't return until Friday afternoon. Nevertheless, it was a great trip. We hardly but a dent in the alcohol, ate, swam and ran hands of H.O.R.S.E (and variations) and Chinese. We also played Jayhawk; it was quite a hit. Overall, I lost about $900. Standard :)

Supernova Elite

I have decided to unleash hell and make a run at earning Supernova Elite status on Poker Stars. In order to do so, I need to accumulate 1,000,000 FPPs by December 31st. It will not be a simple task, as I have only earned 8,421 thus far. I estimate 500K dealt hands of 2/4 NL 9-handed will suffice. It would be a daunting task alone, so I am going to have a couple horses play on the account as well. If successful, I will receive an entry in the WCOOP M.E. ($2,600) and 2 of the following: Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure, EPT Monte Carlo and World Series of Poker M.E.. The packages are worth in excess of 30K. The 1 million FPPs are worth 10K (cash) and I will also receive entries into weekly/month freerolls through the end of the year. Hopefully, I don't receive an ass-whooping along the way. The game is a good fit for my playing style, but I am not off to a very good start. It will also be nice to not have to worry about qualifying for the main event next year, as I would obviously choose the main event, along with EPT Monte Carlo.

MisterNiceGuy out in 128th

After the pot was raised and re-raised, PH re-raised AI w/ KK for 500K. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough - KK v. AA. Valiant run, my friend, valiant run.

Stars

I was tweaking with the layout on Poker Ace Hud for 9-handed tables on Poker Stars. It was looking alright, but I wanted to see it in action. As I was playing 3/6 NL, I continued adjusting with the layout on PAH. Well, it was only a matter of time...

In a 4-way pot, I held 66 on a flop of QT6 (rainbow). I bet 40 (slight overbet) after the player in the blind and the aggressor before the flop checked. The other player folded, the player in the blind check-raised to 100, the pre-flop aggressor re-raised all-in and I made a very reluctant call. I have heard about it and even seen it on a couple occasions, but I had never before had the pleasure. QQ v. TT v. 66

I couldn't have expected a more generous welcome, as I hadn't played in a Poker Stars' cash game since November '06. FWIW: It only took 16 hands.

Day 2

Patrick 'MisterNiceGuy' Huse surged from 40K to 431K on Day 2. He, along with Carl 'colson10' Olson (391K) are among the chipleaders. 808 players remain in the tournament and 621 players will finish in the money. Gbecks and badbeatme were eliminated during the first level of Day 2. As for myself, I worked on homework until 7:30 A.M, woke up at 2:30 and relaxed throughout the remainder of the day. I'm looking forward to virtual railing tomorrow afternoon, as I grind out a chunk of homework. I am flying back to L.A. for a Saturday morning exam, but I will return in the evening or the next morning.

Lucky 7's

I played a short session before hitting the sack. Tomorrow Ryan Newland, a very good friend from long before I can remember is getting married. The session ended before 12:00 PST, but it was enough time to flop 777 not once, but twice. On each occasion it was top set and I won both pots, albeit small ones. It was a nice note to bring 7/6/7 to an end, as tomorrow, 7/7/7 , will surely be a very special day.

Best wishes/Lucky Sevens, Ryan & Natalie Newland

Hail

I was at the SR with SBRounder, HoosierAlum and others last night. As we were ordering drinks from the cocktail waitress, I mentioned H@llingol and 'making it rain'. The cocktail waitress responded, "Don't make it rain. Get nickels and dimes and make it hail."

Bomb

I was awoken by a phone call in the middle of the night (2 or so). On the other end of the phone was a very distressed employee of Extended Stay. She exclaimed, "Please exit the building immediately! The police are one the way to investigate a bomb threat!" At first I thought it was a joke, but she assured it was very real. I talked with the gentleman in the parking lot and he had a very interesting story. Apparently, he found a couple sticks of dynamite in his room. I was upset I didn't bring a deck of cards to play Chinese.

"Just hit it in the hole, you pussy!"

Tony and I played at Wildhorse Golf Club in Henderson. The course was in miserable condition, as each green closely resembled the fringe and had several dead spots. I had a few highlights scattered between several doubles, triples and quads, but I'll opt to use the poor course conditions as an excuse. Lol. Tony had the best shot of the day by far. As I stood on the green, Tony was preparing to take his third shot on a par 4 and was pondering a safe shot toward the right part of the green. I shouted, "Just hit in the hole, you pussy!" and Tony did just that. His ball took one bounce, rattled the pin and dropped right in the hole!

Rio

I played a full day of poker yesterday. I won 1,700 online and lost 2,400 in 2/5 NL at the Rio. At least the Crown & Cokes were refreshing. I decided against playing in the main event, as I don't want to be constricted to only homework and studying this week. It wouldn't have been the best decision regardless, as I am nowhere close to being in the appropriate financial situation. I am playing golf with Tony in Henderson this evening. I hope I don't embarrass myself.
